About
Background…
I grew up as one of those annoyingly precocious kids who started saving money for college at the age of five. I did everything I was supposed to do. I thought I had everything figured out, until the bubble in which I had surrounded myself burst. I can’t list all the circumstances which led to my downward spiral into turmoil. It just seemed like one day I woke up and realized I had dropped out of the PhD program in Physics, been rejected from the U.S. Air Force’s officer training program, quit my job, and was emotionally unraveling.
My stiff upper lip was quivering, so I spent every last cent I had to go to Japan and “find myself”. I had an empowering “this is the first day of the rest of my life” moment, so I decided to document my progress (or lack thereof) primarily for my (overbearingly) concerned family and friends.
So, for all who are interested, this site documents the efforts of this scientist seeking purpose and awareness. And as of 9/11/2009, my biggest journey yet is toward remission from Hashimoto’s Encephalopathy.
