I will be filling out the questionnaire for my wife in the future. She has had HE for 4 years although looking back she started seeing her energy change a couple years before that.

I am not sure how long you have had HE but over a year ago, the HELPS people discovered that every person that had confirmed HE--that responded---are unable to see "motion illusion".
It was surprising that one after another HE sufferers looked at the optical illusions and there was no motion.
A couple of people, as I remember it, could see motion illusion, but they were still in the inquiry stage, not treatment.
To my knowledge, this is not listed in any research to date.

If true, it would be an interesting cursory diagnostic tool.

I thought you might like to know

Good luck

I hate when people say I know how you feel, but I know how you feel. I guess for me it's a little better because I get to say goodbye to my lifestyle. You and adventure sports is me and cooking. I've been making all sorts of fancy meals these days and look forward to my baking fest on Thursday. I know the radiation will permanently damage salivary glands and my taste will be messed up for over a year (if not permanently, e.g. Chris no longer can taste oregeno and his favorite spaghetti sauce tastes weird). It's hard to imagine life without this love of mine, but as my husband often reminds me, there are more important things than cooking, like living. Hang in there! I'm only a phonecall/email away. :)

In response to "up to 20% of the population have elevated “Hashimoto’s antibodies” without having either disease.":

What?! The doctors told Jake that his elevated levels meant he DEFINATELY had either and the normal thyroid levels and his symptoms being nerve-related, indicated HE. The past two treatments MAYBE let him feel better for a couple hours, it's hard to say. The doctors still don't know if the HE is causing the pain or if it's something else. At this point Jake is just grumpy because he wants to leave the hospital.

I'm sorry to hear you're still having issues. I was looking forward to seeing you at work again. :/

Take care! <3

Stop reading all that depressing stuff! You're one of the strongest women I know, and I'm sure you'll get through this - WITHOUT losing your job, your mental capacity, or your overall love of LIFE! Bitch up, call that doctor over and over and over again and tell him what's up. He already thinks you're crazy anyway, so what do you have to lose? =) Just don't mess with your meds!

I don't pray. Ever. But you're definitely in my thoughts everyday. Please stay positive!

Alison, that sounds very painful and, scary!
So I guess a hike in the wilderness of Shikoku is out.

Did this mesage go to Joann Tomooka, too?
How are you going to get to the table to eat turkey??
